James Lamoore Houston, age 81, of Dayton, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 4, 2021.
He was born in Alhambra Rural, CA to the late Nathan & Clara Houston.
James grew up in North Chicago-he was a "War Hawk" and a track star. He and his wife were a part of the fabulous 50's Club. James served in the U.S. Air Force, and went on to retire with them after 20 years of service. James owned a pest control company in the Philippines while serving in the military. He also owned a cleaning company in Dayton. James worked at numerous car dealerships in the Dayton area. He retired from the Dayton Public School System as a bus driver/mentor to many children. James was a proud Leo, and an even prouder Papa!
He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Carolyn M. Houston; children, Mark Houston, Yancey P. (Roseida) Houston, Aaron L. (Shanan) Houston, Shona M. Houston, KaTina Hill, Kimberly Brooke Houston-Kennerson, Robert Pina, Brian Jenkins, Jonathan (MaryDawn "Dodge City") Jenkins and Brandon Jenkins; 28 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; brothers, Arland Hooper and Lamont Blackwood; sister, LaVerne Blackwood; brother-in-law, Thomas L. (Mary) Pina; sister-in-laws, Maria L. Pina-Crosley and Rosalie (Bob) Pina-Fairhurst; and many other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 16, 2021 for a home going service at 11am at the Greater Galilee Baptist Church, 1001 Beatrice Drive, Dayton, OH 45404.
In lieu flowers, donations/blessings can be made to Jonathan ($RevJenk at Cash App) to be forwarded to his mother. Plants may be sent to the church where services will be held.
