JONES, James "Jim", age 80 of Dayton, passed away Sunday, October 20, 2019 at Miami Valley Hospital. He was born October 25, 1938 in Piqua, Ohio the son of Albert R. and Opal Lavina (nee Apple) Jones who precede him in death.
James leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife of 41 years, Janet (nee Fraley) Jones, one daughter and son-in-law Jennifer and Ronald Jr. Bazzel, one granddaughter Cristal Bazzel, and children he adopted over the years, along with many friends and family..
Jim is a US Army retired veteran and also retired from the US Air Force. He was also in the Air National Guard, 178th Fighter Squadron out of Springfield, Ohio. He too was a member of the Civil Air Patrol, member of Ohio Military Reserve, Miami Valley Young Marines and was a was a reserve Deputy with the Clark County Sheriff's Dept., and was a gun enthusiast.
Jim was a good spirited, outgoing human being, non-judgmental, spoke his mind, and too many accomplishments to mention, his life was full. Jim was a good husband, father and grandpa and will be greatly missed.
There will be a Gathering of Family and Friends at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME North Chapel, 4140 Needmore Road, Thursday, November 21, 2019 starting at 12:00 pm, followed by a Celebration of James' life at 1:00 pm with Pastor Jerry Carter presiding.
