James N. Johnson

James N. Johnson, age 89, of Huber Heights, passed away February 6, 2023. He was born December 19, 1933 in Frenchburg, KY to the late Ben and Edna Johnson. In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his wife, Bessie Johnson; son, Lon McCarty; granddaughter, Bonnie Rothen; siblings: Denver Johnson, Mary Catherine Johnson, Joseph D. Johnson and Bill R. Johnson

James is survived by his children: Gary McCarty (Judy), Vickie Vance and Linda Hoel (Ed); daughter-in-law, Dee McCarty; grandchildren: Phil Boyer (Jen), Kathy McCarty, Jennifer Zoller (Dean), Steven McCarty and Lil Ed Hoel; many great-grandchildren; sisters: Lillie M. Wright (Jim) and Judy Krohe; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

James was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He loved watching old westerns, gardening, going to garage sales, vacationing, playing cards with his buddies and rooting for the Cincinnati Reds. He retired from Apex Machine and Tool Company, now known as Cooper, after 42 1/2 years of service.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 5:00-7:00 pm on Friday, February 17, 2023 at Newcomer Funeral Home, North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Road, where military honors will begin at 5:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the Alzheimer's Association. A graveside service will be held at a later date at Jones Cemetery, Midland, KY.
