James "Jim" Pryce

James "Jim" Pryce, age 81 of Tipp City, Ohio passed away peacefully on January 11, 2025. He was born December 17, 1943 in Latrobe, PA son of the late Glenn and Eleanor (Kuntz) Pryce.

He proudly served 13 years in the United States Air Force (Major), receiving several medals, ribbons, and commendations, including the Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross. He was an accomplished engineer, earning his undergraduate degree at Indiana University of Pennsylvania (B.A. in Science) and his degree in Metrology at San Jose State University. He also earned his master’s degree in Atmospheric Physics / Radiative Transfer Theory from the University of Utah (M.S.). Jim’s civilian career included working with multiple contractors as a Senior Scientist, where he designed, developed, and conducted field tests globally. He loved astronomy, photography, ham radio, and sports cars. He enjoyed family gatherings, watching his grandchildren’s sports, and offering his advice whenever it was needed. He will be missed by all.

In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Dawn Pryce. 

Jim is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Susie Pryce; children, Chris (Pam) Bochenek, Andrew (Carrie) Bochenek, Dave (Jen) Bochenek, and Kimberly (Jason) Strohmeyer; grandchildren, Brittany (Dallas), Marshall, Steven(Jennifer), Jarrett, Alex (Haley), Ben, Stephanie, Alexis (Kaleb), and Mitchell; several great grandchildren; siblings, Laurie Pryce and Bryan Pryce; as well as numerous other family members and friends.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2025 from 10:30am to 12:00pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4104 Needmore Road, Dayton, Ohio 45424. A Memorial Service will begin at 12pm at the Funeral Home with Chaplain Dave officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Jims name to Friends Care Community, 150 East Herman Street, Yellow Springs, Ohio and or Hospice of Dayton.
