James "Jim" E. Kovaleski Sr.

James "Jim" E. Kovaleski Sr., age 70 of Kettering, Ohio passed away peacefully on July 10, 2024. He was born May 30, 1954 in Athens, Ohio son of the late John and Virgie Leota (Jones) Kovaleski. 

Jim was a loving partner, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He was a "Sons" member of the AmVets Post 24. He enjoyed playing the Lottery, spreading laughter, and bringing smiles to those around him. Jim was known for his love of Ohio State, the Cleveland Browns, and his collection of Hawaiian shirts. He was also a proud man and a hardworker and was raised to never give up. Jim will be greatly missed by all who knew him. 

In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Rita D. Kovaleski; and brother, Max "Slug" W. Kovaleski.

He is survived by his son, James (Mary) E. Kovaleski Jr.; significant other, Marcella Drummond; siblings, John (Carol) Kovaleski and Rita (Bob) Harris; bonus daughters, Sarah (Richie) Miller and Randi (Eamon) Papania; bonus grandchildren, Austin, Makenzie, and Emery; and several nephews, nieces, and cousins.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, July 18, 2024 from 5pm to 7pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4104 Needmore Road, Dayton, Ohio 45424. A funeral service will begin at 7pm at the Funeral Home. Jim will be laid to rest at Greenlawn Cemetery in Nelsonville, Ohio at a later date. 

Memorial contributions can be made in Jims honor to the Shriners Childrens Hospital.

The family has asked that you wear your best Hawaiian shirt and/or Ohio State shirt in honor of Jim to his services.
