It's only what you do for Christ will last, but it is the works that you perform for others that will be remembered. We pause to pay special tribute to the memory of James L. Hunter Jr who by his unselfish devotion and service to his family and fellow man, was released from all "earthly limitations" and granted everlasting peace on June 15, 2023, at Grandview Memorial Hospital.
He touched so many lives during his 59 years as a resident of Dayton, Ohio. He was a Graduate of Paul Lawrence Dunbar High School class of 1983. He worked for the Montgomery County Parks & Recreations and was a truck driver for Dempsey and Rumpke Waste Collection Company's. He was the proud father of Branden Hunter (Angie) & Miracle Hewitt (Janet).
James is proceeded in Death by his Mother Zetta Derrick Hunter, and father James L. Hunter Sr., Brother Robert S. Hunter, Maternal grandfather Robert S. Derrick, Paternal grandmother Johnnie Mae Lane, Paternal Grandparents Ed & Lenora Hunter. Great maternal grandmother Lillie Mae Jones, Paternal great Grandmother Inez Henry. Aunts Zette Spears, Harriet Yvonne Kerley, Connie Dukes, Barbara Martin, and Renee Lane. Uncles Pete (Sonny) Hunter, Robert Lee Lane, Roger Lane, and Joseph Lane.
He leaves to Cherish his memories. Stepfather Denzel Stewart, Brothers Mark Derrick (Hunter), (Jennifer) (Ellen). Sisters Cynthia (Hunter) Bryant (Earl), and Nikki Walker (Tyre). Children Brandon and Miracle Hunter, Nieces Taylor Bryant, Natasha & Marqia Hunter, Lonisha, and Nakia Wright. Nephews Mark Hunter II, Martino Hunter, Lonnie Wright Jr. Thomas, and Haiden Wright. He also leaves to cherish his memories Aunts Minerva Woods, Sheila Smith, Sharon Lane, Georgia Lee, & Vickie Hunter, Uncles Fred Hunter, Roberto Duncan and Fred Lane. Cousins Joyce, Janet, and Mildred Spears. Great Nephews Abraham, Nahmir, & Neeko-Nahmar. Best friends Kenneth Vaughn, Antwon, George, & Cordell Washington. Favorite cousin John Byrd (Jay Byrd). Special friends Tonya of Middletown, Ohio. Along with a host of many cousins, and friends.
Visitation will be held Thursday, July 6, 2023 from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm with funeral services immediately following, all at Omega Baptist Church, 1821 Emerson Ave, Dayton, OH 45406. James will be laid to rest in West Memory Gardens.
