James F. Howe, age 81 of Dayton, Ohio, passed away Sunday, October 21, 2018 at Hospice of Dayton surrounded by his loving family. He was born September 19, 1937 in Madison Mills, Ohio to the late Francis and Zona Howe.
Jim served in the U.S. Air Force. He retired from Trimble Navigation in 2004. He loved boating and all water activities. He was an avid Ohio State University, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Dayton Flyers fan.
Jim's family was his pride and joy and he was sure to let everyone know it. He never failed to put a smile on their faces and crack a corny joke. Jim loved his family with every ounce of his being and once said that "A family is like a miracle because so many wonderful things come from it." He will be remembered for the strong family values that he instilled in all of them and dearly missed.
In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his brother, Jerry Howe.
Jim will be missed by his loving children, Cindy (Tom) Platt, Greg (Brenda) Howe and Cheri (Terry) Wasson; grandchildren, Chrissy (Josh) Simala, Tom Platt, Stefan Platt, Alicia (fiancé Toni Lessing) Platt, Dustin (Monica Yao) Howe, Melissa Puterbaugh, Cory (Anna) Wasson, Lauren Puterbaugh, Carly Wasson, Makensie Wasson and Tyler Wasson; great grandchildren, Brody, Riley and Finley Simala, Evangeline Lessing, Adelyn and David Wasson and Naila Howe; extended family members; and his beloved dog, Barklee.
A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, November 1, 2018 from 5-8 p.m. at Celebrations Banquet Center II, 7615 Poe Ave. Dayton, Ohio.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Jim's memory to the Hospice of Dayton.
