James A. Hollenbeck

James A. "Jim" Hollenbeck, age 74 of Xenia, OH, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 7, 2020 at his home, surrounded by family. He was born on February 19, 1946 in Syracuse, New York to Francis and Matie (Spalsbury) Hollenbeck. Jim married Diane Duke Baynard on August 9, 2002 in Brandt United Methodist Church in Brandt, OH.

Jim is survived by his loving wife of 18 years, Diane; two daughters, Mindy (Greg) McNabb and Nickie Baynard; a son, Chris (Kathy) Hollenbeck; two grandchildren, Sammy and Timmy Hollenbeck; his beloved lil' canine buddy, Toby; brother and sister in laws, Russell (Mary Ann) Duke, Will (Karen) Duke, Donna (Dick) Kaufman and Teresa (John) Ghearing; and many nieces, nephews and other family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Jennifer Hollenbeck; and two sisters, Joyce Shields and his twin Jean Paternoster.

Jim retired in 1989 from the U.S. Air Force where he worked in Environmental Health Services. He served during the Vietnam War, spending two tours in Vietnam. Jim received the Meritorious Service Medal and Air Force Commendation Medals during his service. After retirement he worked various jobs but found his calling driving the bus for Greene Cats, assisting Developmentally Disabled young adults. Jim and Diane loved to travel and mostly enjoyed their times on the cruise ships. He loved his family dearly and will be greatly missed by all.

A Private Memorial Service will be held on May 19, 2020 with Rev. Will Duke of WOW Church of Bowersville, Ohio officiating at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Beavercreek Chapel.
