James L. Hartless, age 53 of Vandalia, passed away Saturday, June 30, 2018. He was born December 29, 1964 in Lexington, Virginia to the late Edward and Sadie Hartless.
James was formerly employed with Dayton Freight and Houston Industries. He was a very giving, caring loving person. He never knew a stranger and would do anything for anyone. James was always there for family members; he loved and was loved by many many people. James loved to be funny and was the life of the party with his trademark "Holy Moly".
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Cora Kirkpatrick.
James will be missed by his loving wife of 33 years, Lisa Hartless; children, Tyler Hartless, Austin Hartless and Josh (Lindsay Duvall) Ryan; grandchildren, Damion Ryan, Avery Ryan, Grayson Hartless and Bryson Hartless; sisters, Brenda (Rick) Young and Judy (Darrell) Settles; brother, Edward (Helen) Hartless; mother-in-law, Sharon Ryan; sister-in-law, Pam (Terry McMillan) Ryan; brother-in-law, Rick Ryan; and many other in-laws and special friends including Floyd Hensley.
Family will receive friends Thursday, July 5, 2018 from 5-7 p.m. at Newcomer North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Rd., Dayton, Ohio where the funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday. Burial to follow the service at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens.
