James Joseph "Jim" Gorski, 80, passed away in Soin hospital ICU Saturday December 10, 2022. He graduated from Fairborn High School in 1960, Sinclair College, 1962 and became a paid member of the Fairborn Fire Department, January 1965 and was promoted to Lieutenant in March 1975. Jim retired from the fire department June 1998 and after three months, he returned and worked eight more years in the Fire Marshal's office. He was a Greene County Football official for 25 years.
A loving and doting Husband, Father and Grandfather. He adored family vacations to Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg Tennessee. Jim was an avid fan of The Ohio State football team, The Ohio State Marching Band of Excellence, the Cincinnati Reds and the Cincinnati Bengals.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Betty Jo, daughter and son-in-law Diane and Steve Shober, son and daughter-in-law Mike and Tammy Gorski, five grandchildren Kyra and Zach Shober, Zach Rishforth, Kara and Chris McMurchy, nephew and niece Kent and Kim Foster, their son Christopher, niece Amanda foster, her children Hunter and Alexis. Also survived by two sisters.
Jim was a longtime member of the Michael L. Finnell Masonic Lodge #711 in Fairborn, Ohio.
Public visitation will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home (3380 Dayton-Xenia Rd.) on Wednesday December 21, 2022 from 4pm to 7 pm with service the following day at 10:00 am. He will be laid to rest at Enon Cemetery.
The family wishes to send heartfelt thanks to the doctors and staff of the ICU, Soin hospital, the Fairborn Fire Department, the Fairborn Police Department and Kettering Home Care.
James' service will be livestreamed at the scheduled service time.
