James Ronald Goans Sr., "Ronnie," age 75 of Miamisburg, passed away Friday, February 12, 2021 at Sycamore Hospital. He was born June 7, 1945 in Dayton, Ohio, the son of the late Woodrow Goans and Juanita Willoughby.
Ronnie graduated from Miamisburg High School in 1964. He enlisted in the Army in 1963 and was honorably discharged on November 3, 1966. He was enlisted with 36th Signal Battalion as an E4. While stationed in Krabbenloch Kaserne Ludwigsburg, West Germany, he met and married Helga Drespe Goans. They were married December 30, 1965. Ronnie was a Journeyman Wireman with Local 82 and Monsanto DOE.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his step-father, Buford Willoughby; sisters, Annette Elizabeth Goans, Jacqueline Williams; brother, Grover Franklin Goans; and his grandmother in Germany, Katharina Reininger.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Helga; daughter, Susan (James) Clark; son, James (Christine) Goans Jr.; grandchildren, Joshua (Kelly) Clark, Katie (Zac) Cottingim; two great grandchildren, Jacob Clark, Ellie Cottingim; sister, Bobbie Orth; special aunt, Maria Meister in Germany; best friend, Denver Smith; special cousin, Hank Dunn; as well as many nieces, nephews and special cousins, and extended family in Germany.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 18, 2021 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Newcomer Kettering Chapel (3940 Kettering Bvd. Kettering, OH 45439). Funeral service will be held on Friday, February 19, 2021 at 10:00 am, also at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Dayton National Cemetery with military honors.
