James Ralph Gill

James R. "Pops" Gill, age 87, of Huber Heights, Ohio, passed away on February 21, 2023. Jim was born on February 27, 1935, in Jefferson County, Indiana. During his life, he was the owner and operator of a Texaco service station in New Washington, IN, for 20 yrs. He was a member of the Elizabeth Baptist Church and served in the Army National Guard. He helped the Greater Clark County School System by transporting children to and from the School for Special Education and drove the bus for summer programs, taking kids on field trips. In the mid 70s he started driving truck and charter bus, and in 1979 he sold his business and drove truck full time. His job with AAFES moved him to Dayton, OH, in 1980 and later to Waco, TX, in 1992. He retired in 1997 and returned to Ohio in 2006.

Jim was preceded in death by parents: Bert and Delpha Gill; brothers: Carroll and Robert Gill; and sister: Emma Lillian (Gill) Bower.

Jim leaves behind his wife of 35 years, Wilma; 3 children: Belinda Gill, Jeffrey Gill, and Paula (Gill) Lewis; two step-children: Ally Cassell and Kim Martel; 5 grandchildren; 6 step-grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and 1 step-great grandchild.
