James Vernon Enix

James Vernon Enix, age 91, passed away, February 16, 2021 at Soin Hospital in Beavercreek, OH. He was born to the late Arthur and Rosa (Parks) Enix on January 31, 1930. Vernon was married to his beloved wife, Joanne, for 65 years who passed away in 2015. Vernon is survived by his five children Ava (Steve) Elkow, Joe (Kathy) Enix, Valerie (Enix) Click, David Enix, Jeff Enix, 12 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and one sister, Faye Fugate.

He was born and raised alongside his eight brothers and sisters in Jellico, TN. Everyone called him Ham or Hambone when he was younger. He played football, basketball, and wrestling in high school. To this day, he's the 2nd Highest Ranked football player at Jellico HS. Soon after high school, he joined the Air Force and served 4 years in Germany and played football while there. It was around this time he married "the girl next door" and love of his life, Joanne.

After the Air Force, he worked at Delco for a while before going to work for Economy Linen as a route driver where he worked for 37 years.
He absolutely loved his cats and dogs and they always brought him joy. He was a longtime head usher at Bethel Temple Assembly of God Church and later attended Fairhaven Church.

He and Joanne loved to travel and frequently went to Sarasota and Siesta Key Florida as well as Gatlinburg TN. When not traveling he enjoyed golfing, watching football, working in his yard, playing the piano, and spending time with his family. He enjoyed the old gospels and church hymns.
Visitation will be held Sunday, February 21 from 11:00am to 12:00pm and service from 12:00pm to 1:00pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3380 Dayton-Xenia Road, Beavercreek OH 45432. Private burial will take place at Mt. Zion Park Cemetery.
