James Edward Frye, age 89, of Kettering went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 27, 2014. James was born on August 18, 1925 in Belva, West Virginia to the late George & Willie. James retired from Plumbers and Pipe Fitters Local 162 and he was a member of Moraine City First Church of God. James served in the U.S. Navy and is a veteran of WWII.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert, Solie, Delbert and George Frye; sisters, Esther Totton and Eva Masters; and son-in-law, Chester Chapman.
James is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Frances Frye; children, Sharon Chapman, Ed (Lois) Frye and Rodney (Irene) Frye; sister, Mary (Hamon) Preast; grandchildren, Wade (Amy) Chapman, Scott (Karen) Chapman, Kim (Brent) Embrey, Melissa (Brian) Hartshorn, James R. Frye and Robert Dean; great-grandchildren, Alena and Jerrod Chapman, Sam Philpot, Joe and Alex Hartshorn, Madeline and Elizabeth Embrey; and many other family and friends.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 2, 2014 from 5-7 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home South Chapel (3940 Kettering Blvd, Kettering, OH 45439). The service will be held on Wednesday, September 3, 2014 at 1pm at the funeral home, with Pastor Russell Hays & Pastor Bud Bastin officiating. Burial will follow at Dayton National Cemetery.
