James Arthur Davis, age 83, of Clayton, OH passed away on Wednesday, November 9, 2016. He was a retired civil-service employee of Wright Patterson Air Force Base, Dayton OH with 27 years of service that included employment at the Defense General Supply Center in Richmond, VA and the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. He was born in Detroit, MI, November 15, 1932, graduated from Lincoln Park High School, Lincoln Park, MI, class of 1951 and worked at Great Lakes Steel in Detroit, MI, served in the U.S. Navy for two years, and was self-employed a auto-service station owner before entering civil service. He was devout Christian, devoted family man, and avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, camping, collecting Indian arrowheads, and supporting the Boy Scouts as a troop leader for Troop 101 and Troop 17 both in Enon, OH. He served as a long-time member and deacon of several churches that included Fairborn First Baptist Church, Friendship Baptist Church in Richmond, VA, and Crestview Baptist Church in Clayton, OH.
James is preceded in death by his parents William and Clara (Tosh) Davis, both brothers Tom and Norman Davis, and his wife of 50 years, Shirley C. (Horner) Davis. He is survived by his three loving sons Mark, Scott, and Lee Davis and their terrific significant others/spouses Tammy Reinhart, Doris Freyman-Davis, and Shannon Ross-Davis, respectively, and two wonderful granddaughters from Lee and Shannon; Natalie and Lily Davis.
Public viewing followed directly by a funeral service will be held at Crestview Baptist Church, Clayton OH on Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at 12:00. His final resting place will be at Rose Hill Burial Park, Springfield, OH.
