James E. Davis

James E. Davis, age 85, of Dayton, Ohio, passed away on March 27, 2023. He was born in Virginia on August 2, 1937 to the late Earl and Gladys (Watson) Davis. In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his children: Rebecca (Jim) Sherman and Wayne Davis.

Jim is survived by his children: Brenda (Sam) Lambros and James Davis (Colleen Peeling); grandchildren: Shawna (Robert) Jackson, Andrea Barns, Timothy (Kindra) Davis, Samantha (Ben) Johnson, and Alexander (Carrie) Davis; numerous great grandchildren; great great grandson, Hudson; ex wife: Merriel Colleen; siblings: Frank (Rose) Davis, Vernon Davis, Harvey (Barbara) Davis, Bea (Ray) Davis, and Irene Davis; and many other family and friends.

Our dad had a great sense of humor and the most unique laugh of anyone we've ever known. He had a passion for fishing and for flea markets. His collection of baseball caps got him the nickname from his grandchildren as Papaw Hat. Kids in his neighborhood adopted Papaw Jim and loved and visited him often. He lived his life simple and private and that is how he took his last breath, simple and private. He is now with his daughter Becky and son Wayne. Oh what a glorious reunion that must've been. Rest In Peace Dad. We love you.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 4, 2023 from 12:30pm to 1:30pm at the Newcomer North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Road, Dayton. Funeral services will be held immediately after at 1:30pm. James will be laid to rest at Dayton Memorial Park Cemetery.
