James Elwood Chesnet, Sr. "Porkie", age 85 of Huber Heights, Ohio and formerly of Coatesville, Pennsylvania, passed away Thursday, November 19, 2020 at Hospice of Dayton. He was born April 3, 1935 in Coatesville, Pennsylvania to the late Harry and Sarah Chesnet.
Porkie was a loving father, grandfather and family man. He would do anything for anyone and give the shirt off his back for anyone in need. Porkie liked to tinker and had the ability to take things apart to build something new. He had a love for dogs as well as smoking his pipe. Whenever you saw Porkie, you would see him with a pipe in his mouth or tucked in his shirt.
In addition to his parents, Porkie was preceded in death by his son, James E. Chesnet, Jr.; siblings, Elizabeth Gill, Raymond Chesnet, Dorothy Chesnet, Harry Chesnet and Doris Heath.
Porkie will be missed by his loving daughter, Michele (Brian) Tynan; son, Allen (Heather) Chesnet Finnefrock; grandchildren, Mark Beck II, Katrina Tynan, Ashley Tynan, Tyler Tynan and Olivia Tynan; siblings, Sarah "Sally" O'Brien, Allen "Pete" Chesnet, Donald Chesnet, Richard Chesnet and Eddie Chesnet; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, November 30, 2020 at Newcomer North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Rd., Dayton, Ohio. Burial at Poplar Hills Cemetery. The state of Ohio is under a mandatory mask order and has required that face masks be worn in all public places.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Porkie's memory to the Hospice of Dayton.
