James L. Burch

Burch, James L. III "Jim," age 83, formerly of Tampa Florida, and Maggie Valley, North Carolina, passed away on Tuesday, June 28, 2022. Jim was born in Tampa, Florida, on June 21, 1939, to the late James L. Burch II and Hattie Jo (Killebrew) Burch. He is preceded in death by his niece Melissa Gallar, his parents, son Jeffery LeRoy Burch, and the love of his life for 65 years Jane Burch. Jim is survived by his daughter Janna (John) Skalski of Dayton, OH; his daughter-in-law Laura Burch (Tony) Smith of Candler, NC; his sister Monty Jo (Melvin) Gallar; his nephew Michael (Destiny Wishert) Gallar and his great-nephew Justin Gallar of Seffner, FL; and his granddaughters Jennifer Skalski (Brent Snell) of Tipp City, OH, and Jessica Burch of Morrisville, NC.

In his early years, Jim served his country and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He went on to various jobs before finding his calling as a dedicated salesman in both Tampa, FL, and Asheville, NC. He was very proud of being a 50-year member as a Master Mason in the Masonic Lodge of Florida and Ohio. Above all, Jim was a dedicated family man and a valuable friend and neighbor. He and Jane were inseparable and did everything together, whether it was watching and enjoying football, golf, and NASCAR or simply sitting together, talking while holding hands. Jim will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him; however, we know that he has been reunited with the love of his life after 59 days of being apart.

In lieu of services, the family will hold a private graveside service and lay Jim and Jane to rest next to their beloved son in Maggie Valley, NC.
