James E. Bishop "Jim", age 62 of Centerville, passed away June 17, 2021. He was born in Dayton, OH on April 21, 1959 to James W. and Margaret H. (Williams) Bishop. Jim was preceded in death by his father, James.
He is survived by his mother, Margaret; brother, William (Mary) Bishop and numerous extended family and dear friends.
Jim belonged to the National Honor Society in high school. He worked his entire career as a specialty machinist. Jim had a passion for old sport cars. He enjoyed collecting clocks and Santa Claus figurines. Jim had many talents and he touched the lives of all he met. He could repair just about anything and he would for anyone. Cars and clocks were his specialty. A friend would tell him that something was broken and he would say "bring it to me, I might be able to fix it". His mother's coffee pot quit working while he was in the hospital and he told her to bring it to him and he would take care of it. He spent his whole life doing things for others and neglected himself. Before he closed a phone call or left he always ask "do you need anything." He loved to tell jokes and always found a willing audience. He loved being in the mountains when the fog rolled in, he thought it was so relaxing.
Family will receive guests from 1:00-2:30 PM on Sunday, June 27, 2021 at Newcomer Funeral Home, Centerville Chapel (820 Miamisburg-Centerville Rd., Dayton, 45459) where a funeral service will begin at 2:30 PM. Interment will be held on Monday, June 28 at Woodland Cemetery, Dayton.
