Adkins, James Boyd, age 88, passed away and went to be with the Lord on Monday, January 12, 2009 at the Wright Nursing Center, Fairborn,OH. James was born August 21, 1920 in Lenox, Kentucky, the son of the late Charles V. Adkins and Maggie Lewis Adkins. He was one of eight children. He served his country during WWII as a radio communications operator. He was employed at WPAFB as an electrician and later became a car salesman. James was saved and faithfully attended the Wesleyan Holiness Church for many years. James loved to pass out tracts, support missionaries, and was active with this until he had to go to the nursing home. He loved his family and enjoyed all the family reunions and gatherings. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Earl, Curtis, Oakley, Herbert, and Edward. James is survived by his two sisters, Sada E. LeMaster Long and Anna N. Davis and her husband Rev. Herbert Davis; and many nieces, nephews, family, and friends. James has some special friends who live in the Lake Shore Apartments where he resided for several years. The family would like to send a special thanks to all the nurses and caregivers at Wright Nursing Center and also the Southern Care Hospice. Funeral services will be held at 12 PM on Friday, January 16, 2009 at Newcomer Funeral Home & Crematory, 4104 Needmore Rd., Dayton, OH, with Pastor Mike Adkins officiating. Interment will follow at Willow View Cemetery, Dayton, OH. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 11 AM until the time of services.
