Jake "Buck" McPheron, 94, passed away peacefully on March 8, 2023. Jake was born on April 24, 1928 to Homer and Effie McPheron in Seco, Kentucky. He was married to Fayetta Gilley on January 3, 1951.
Jake was drafted to the Army at the end of the Korean Conflict. He served our country until 1953. While in Germany, he served as honor guard at Spandau Prison.
He worked at the Atlas Cement Plant for 24 years until it closed down. He retired from Winston Heat Treat in 1992.
Jake was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years in 2000; his mother in 1980; father in 1979; sisters Geneva, Georgia, Mary and Rena; sons Larry McPheron and Ricky McPheron; grandchildren Jason Gentry and Angela McPheron; son in law Tommie Seiber.
He is survived by his 7 children Davey (Marie) McPheron, Darlene Gentry, Pamela Seiber, Frankie McPheron, Susie (Donald) Thomas, Allen (Jill) McPheron and Melissa McPheron. He is also survived by multiple grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Jake was loved by so many. He was an avid guitar player and singer. Gathering around his kitchen on a Saturday night was the greatest.
Public visitation will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home (3380 Dayton Xenia Rd.) on March 16, 2023 at 12:00 pm with service to follow at 1:00 pm. He will be laid to rest at Byron Cemetery next to Fayetta.
