Jacqueline A. Lai, affectionately as Jackie, passed away on November 29, 2024 in her hometown of Dayton, where she was born on May 2, 1964. She lived a fulfilling life defined by her dedication to family and a vibrant spirit that endeared her to many.
Jackie was a proud homemaker, a role through which she nurtured her two sons, Joshua Lai and Dylan Johnson, and her daughter, Sarah (Robert) Sheetz. Her commitment to her family was unwavering, and her love shone brightly in the lives of her grandchildren, Alice, Clara, Matthew, and Alyssa.
A graduate of Belmont High School, Jackie carried with her the values of kindness and strength. Those who knew her would often highlight her sharp, sarcastic wit, which added a unique flavor to conversations and gatherings. Jackie had an array of hobbies that brought her joy, particularly her passion for gardening and watching movies, pursuits that underscored her appreciation for life's simple pleasures.
She is survived by her loving brother, Scott Hornback, who, along with her children and grandchildren, will cherish her memory and the indelible mark she left on their hearts.
Jackie is preceded in death by her parents, Gary and Ruth Hornback, whose legacy of love and dedication she upheld throughout her life.
Her presence will be deeply missed, but her spirit will continue to inspire those fortunate enough to have known her.
The family hopes those who would like to honor her will find a quiet time to remember who she was in your life and be thankful for the time you had together. In lieu of a public funeral service, individual families are encouraged to have their own private memorial at this time.
