Jacqueline (Evans) Block, 68, passed away on Wednesday, November 18, 2020 in Kettering, OH. She was born in Cleveland, OH on April 9, 1952 to Frances (Evans) Shellenbarger and raised by Clyde Shellenbarger who have both preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death was her brother, George Shellenbarger. Jackie was a graduate of Marymount High School in Cleveland, OH and achieved the lifelong goal of earning her Bachelor of Science degree in Information Technology from the University of Phoenix in 2010.
Jackie held many customer service positions over her eclectic career but recently retired from the Cleveland Clinic where she put her love of computers to good use in managing data analytics for their call center. Her love of cooking and baking was well known and appreciated by her friends and family, and she spent many hours eagerly exploring culinary magazines, websites, and the Food Network for a new recipe to share. In her free time, she was a very talented crocheter and stayed busy keeping her 3 grandchildren supplied with their favorite hats and stuffed characters including intricate princesses, boats, and trains. She had many friends and was well known for her bright smile, generous heart, and adventurous spirit. Jackie laughed easily and was welcoming and friendly to everyone she met.
While she enjoyed interests as varied as professional wrestling, sci-fi television, and gardening, Jackie was happiest when surrounded by her husband, children, and grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by her beloved husband of 17 years, Jerry E. Block; her children, Michael J. Carey (Sarah Fields) and Erin M. Carey (Travis Crum); her grandchildren, Emmersyn Carey, Nolan Crum, and Hadley Crum; and close friend, Sherry Nehamkin.
In light of the pandemic, local services will be private with a Celebration of Life to be held later next year in Cleveland, OH. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Jackie's name may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital or The American Heart Association.
The State of Ohio is under a mandatory mask order and has required that face mask will be worn in all public places.
