Jack William Smith
It is with a heavy heart, we as a family announce the passing of the most wonderful man early Sunday morning January 15th, 2023. Jack William Smith, age 74 of Dayton, Ohio peacefully passed away while in the presence of his loving wife of 41 years, Vicki. Along with his children and grandchildren. He is being greeted in heaven by many with open arms and enormous smiles.
Jack was born July 15th, 1948, to Bob and Dorothy Smith in Port Huron, Michigan.
Jack was preceded in death by his sisters, Doreen and Judy, and his son, Ryan Smith. He is survived by brother Bob Smith (Helen), sister Maureen Baker (Bob) and sister Joyce Beaudry, along with his 4 children and 3 grandchildren.
Jack proudly served his country as a Marine Vietnam Veteran and after retired as an Allied Truck Driver where he traveled all over the country hauling cars. Jack lived a life of fun, travel, cooking out, fishing, and amazing storytelling. He loved his work and never slowed down. He was always able to fix and build anything. He taught his kids and grandkids many of his tricks along the way. He loved spending his time with family and always reminded his kids to wear their seatbelt and call their mom when they got home. His role as a father and grandfather was very important to him. He was the most amazing story-teller, best problem solver, and a fierce protector of his family and friends. He was a truly cherished man.
Jack will be deeply missed by his wife, Vicki Smith, children Gary Smith, Darcie Smith, Corey Smith (Stephanie Gomez), Megan Smith (Joe O'Brien), grandchildren Ally Smith, Easton Smith and Kennedi O'Brien and best friend Roy (Barb) Thornton.
A Celebration of Life for Jack will be held on Monday, February 6, 2023 from 1 pm - 3 pm at SouthBrook Christian Church (9095 Washington Church Rd., Miamisburg, OH 45342).
The family would like to sincerely thank all of the medical staff involved in Jacks care and all of the outreach of support from family and friends. In honor of Jack and the cause that was important to him, please forgo sending flowers in favor of making a donation to VA of Dayton in honor of his name.
