Jack E. Harley, age 87, of Dayton, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord Thursday evening , August 11, 2022, at Hospice of Dayton with his wife Carlene, son Mark, and daughter Cindy by his side. He was born August 7, 1935, in Dayton, Ohio, to the late Chester A. and Margaret A. Harley.
He graduated from Vandalia Butler High School in 1953. He started working at Liberal Markets while in high school, and managed several of their stores until 1974. He then started his own detail shop, working with various car dealerships in the area.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son Robert A. Harley; brother Frank Harley, and his wife Lois; father-in-law and mother-in-law Carl and Doris Coomer; brother-in-law Chuck Coomer; sister-in-law Lorene Smith; and son-in-law Mike Bean. Jack is survived by his loving wife of 65 years Carlene; children Debra Rowland, John Harley, Mark Harley (Kathy) and Cindy Bean; 12 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; his brother David Harley of California; brother-in-law Boyd Coomer (Barbara); sister-in-law Reva Coomer; and numerous other extended family members, close friends and neighbors.
Jack was a Godly man and considered his greatest honor serving as an elder of the Northridge Church of Christ, and being instrumental in securing a merge between the Northridge and Webster Street congregations, to become the Needmore Road Church of Christ.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, August 25th, at 11:30 am, at the Needmore Road Church of Christ, 2211 Needmore Road, Dayton, with Richard Melson officiating. A meal will follow the service.
