Jack B. Collins, Sr., age 92, of Dayton, transitioned from this life to his eternal home on October 26, 2021. He was born September 4, 1929 in Dayton, Ohio to the late Charles and Erma (Wertz) Collins. In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Collins; grandson, Tony Hix; step-daughter, Linda Stewart; and great-granddaughter, Jaiden Abramson.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his children: Jack Collins, Jr., Jill Smith (Henry) and Claudia Penrod (Larry); step-children: Joyce Hix and Mitch Trader; many loving grandchildren; great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren; sister, Joan Huecker; niece and nephews; and special friends: Fran Weaver and Kathleen Cron.
Jack loved sports. He enjoyed watching Boston Bruins, Cincinnati Bengals, Dayton Gems and Dayton Bombers hockey teams. He coached his son in Northridge Little League Baseball. He also coached Dayton View Little League and Trotwood girls softball, where he was his granddaughters' coach. Jack worked for Requarth Lumber and retired from there.
Visitation will be held from 3-4 pm on Tuesday, November 2, 2021 at Newcomer North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Road, where the funeral service will begin at 4:00 pm.
