TOWNSEND, Iris,74, of Dayton passed away Sunday November 30, 2008 at Friendship Village. Born June 8, 1934 in Liverpool England. She is preceded in death by her father William Arthur Maiker and brother William Maiker. Iris is survived by her mother Eleanor Maiker; husband of 53 years, James Townsend; children Janet (John) Fedrick, Stephen Townsend, and Mark (Donna) Townsend; grandchildren Jamila (Chris) Jones, Jensen Sanders, Jason Townsend, DeMarcus Townsend, Jermaine Fedrick, and Jasmine Fedrick; 6 great grandchildren; sisters Rita (Archie) Carrington, of Michigan, Olive (Pete) Buckley, of England, and Eleanor Koufie, of England; brother Albert Koufie; numerous nieces, nephews and other family and friends. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Iris was a member of New Gettysburg Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and was involved in many other activities. She was a very giving person and always thought of others before herself. Iris was very involved as a business owner, seamstress, help prepare taxes, reading, and always keeping up with the new technology. Funeral services will be held 11:00AM Friday, December 5, 2008 at Maranatha Christian Fellowship Church, 4501 Wolf Rd. Reverend Henry Williams will be officiating. Family will receive friends from 10 11AM prior to services at the church. The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. E. Ronald Hale and his staff at the Radiation Oncology Dept at WPAFB, Hospice of Dayton, and Friendship Village for their support and care. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton.
