Irene Stewart

December 5, 1939 — November 17, 2024

Dayton

Irene Stewart, a cherished mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, graced the world with her kindness and love from December 5, 1939, until her peaceful passing on November 17, 2024. Born in the serene setting of Big Creek, Kentucky, Irene's journey was marked by dedication, warmth, and an unwavering commitment to her family and community.

Irene's educational pursuits culminated in a high school diploma; she attended Oneida Baptist Institute, where she cultivated not only her academic knowledge but also her strong moral foundation. She took pride in her work, primarily from home, skillfully balancing her professional life while nurturing her children. In time, she concluded her career on a high note with a successful business in real estate. Irene’s professionalism was matched only by the warmth she brought into every interaction, leaving an indelible mark on her clients and colleagues alike.

Throughout her life, Irene was distinguished by her impeccable sense of style, always dressed elegantly, embodying a dignified and proper demeanor that inspired admiration from those around her. Her character shone through in her loving nature—she was memorably kind, sweet, and nurturing, known for her mothering ways that endeared her to friends and family alike. An ardent baker, Irene found joy in creating delightful treats for others, often hosting missionaries from Eaton Baptist Temple, where she actively participated in her faith community.

Irene's legacy is carried on by her loving daughter, Lisa (Dennis) Terry, and her treasured grandchildren, Stephen (Jennifer) Stewart and Alicia Quinn. She also delighted in the joy brought by her great-grandchildren, Audrey Stewart, Nora Stewart, and Arlo Quinn. Her affectionate siblings, Violet (Icem) Bowling, Mattie Brinley, and James (Whitney) Arnett, recall fond memories that will be forever cherished.

Irene was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Earl Stewart, and her son, Howard Stewart, along with her dearly departed siblings: Argene Arnett, Imogene Powell, and Mona Garrison. She was also preceded by her loving parents, Jimmie and Sallie Arnett.

As we remember Irene Stewart, let us honor her legacy of love, kindness, and grace—a beacon of light who touched the lives of many and whose spirit will remain forever in the hearts of her family and all who were fortunate enough to know her.
