Irene (Johnson) Rahn age 89, of Centerville, previously Beavercreek, died Wednesday, April 30, 2014. She was born September 22, 1924, to Raymond and Elise Johnson in Dayton, OH. She is survived by daughter and son-in-law Kathy R. and Dennis A. Rhoades of Bellbrook, daughter and son-in-law Nancy E. and Kerry L. Myers of Enon, son and daughter-in-law Gary J. and Connie K. Rahn of Wyoming, OH, daughter and son-in-law Joanne R. and Brian E. Dennington of Holly, MI, nine grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, sister Eileen Taylor of Ft. Myers, FL, sister and brother-in-law Linda and Joseph Keller of Beavercreek, sisters-in-law Francis Johnson of Dayton and Feppi Rahn of Whittier, CA, and brother-in-law Donald H. Rahn of Dayton and numerous nieces and nephews. Irene married Ivan J. Rahn on September 1, 1945. She, along with her husband, was a very active member of the deaf community, serving as Treasurer of the Dayton Association of the Deaf for many years. She enjoyed traveling, making crafts, and being with her family. For over fifty years she was a member of Christ Episcopal Church, which she referred to fondly as "my church". She is preceded in death by Ivan in 2003, her brothers Robert K. Johnson and Marvin C. Johnson, sisters-in-law Dorothy Johnson and Sue Rahn, brothers-in-law Randy Taylor and Robert Rahn, and grandchildren Jeannette Slouffman and Douglas Rhoades. A memorial service will be held at Christ Episcopal Church, 20 W. First Street, Dayton, OH on Saturday May 17 at 10 am. The Rev. John S. Paddock is officiating. Interment at Dayton Memorial Park Cemetery. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to Christ Episcopal Church Endowment Fund.
