Irene Margerum, age 84 of Dayton, passed away peacefully and surrounded by loved ones on February 12, 2018. Irene was born in Barbourville, KY to the late John and Eva Jackson. She married James Margerum in 1967. Irene retired from General Motors after many years of loyal service. She was a skilled quilter and loved to make quilts for friends and family. She was a long-time member of Christian Life Center. Irene enjoyed cooking for and spending time with her family. She took great pride in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Irene was a loving, caring, and compassionate, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She will be greatly missed by all who loved her.
In addition to her parents, Irene was preceded in death by her husband, James Margerum; and 5 siblings, Lola Jackson, John Jackson, Jr., Eulene Asher, Glen Jackson, and Bonnie Johnson.
Irene leaves to cherish her memory, daughters and sons-in-law, Sherry and Tom Winters and Eva and Mark DeCamp; siblings, Ralph (Margaret) Jackson, Ted Jackson, Beulah Coldiron, and Gladys (Larry) Blackwell; grandchildren, Jason (Holli) Winters, Rachel (Jerry) Hopewell, Emily Sherer, and Andrew (Vanna) Sherer; great-grandchildren, Kayla, Isaiah, Sophia, Tyler, Hadley, Emmy, Brock, and Levi; and special niece, Cynthia Shilt.
A celebration of Irene's life will be held at Christian Life Center (3489 Little York Rd., Dayton) on Thursday, February 15, 2018 at 1:30pm. The family will greet friends and loved ones for one hour prior (12:30pm - 1:30pm). Burial to follow at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens.
