Irene K. Gilley

Gilley, Irene K., age 89, of Dayton, went to be with the Lord on Sunday December 18, 2011. She was born on July 9, 1922 to the late George Kuntzman and Myrtie Russell. Irene is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Gilley; step-father, Irvin Russell; grand daughter, Hope Elizabeth Gilley and two son-in-laws, Stephen Heill and Jon Schaaf.

Irene is survived by her four children, Donna Heill, Clara (George) Stevenson, Viola Schaaf and Charles Robert (Ellen) Gilley; 8 grandchildren, Kim, Steven, Marc, Teresa, Dawn, Michelle, Heather and Emily; 9 great grandchildren, Nicole, Danny, Ryan, Robert, Alison, Danielle, Jessica, Jacob and Chance; two sisters, Joan Magill and Juanita Taylor; other family members and good friends.

Irene retired from GM Inland Division after 36 years of devoted service. Irene was a member of Colorado Avenue Baptist Church for 55 years, where she served in multiple offices for the church, including The National Women's Auxiliary American Baptist Association. She was also a member of The Inland Retiree's Club and Englewood Chapter 563 of the Order of the Eastern Star.

The family would like to send out a special "Thank you" to Dr. Osama Al-Samkari, as well as the staff at Miami Valley Hospital and The Hospice of Dayton for their loving care and support. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Irene's memory to, Colorado Avenue Baptist Church or The Hospice of Dayton.

A visitation will be held on Thursday December 22, 2011 from 5:00-8:00 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home & Crematory, 3940 Kettering Blvd. A funeral service will take place on Friday December 23, 2011 at 10:30 am at Woodland Cemetery Chapel, 118 Woodland Ave. Pastor Robert Wackerman to officiate services.
