Robbins, Irene A., age 94, completed her earthly journey on Sunday, October 12, 2014 at Walnut Creek Nursing Center in Kettering, Ohio. She was born August 25, 1920 in Williamsburg, Kentucky to the late Elijah & Hattie Adkins.
She retired from Rike's Department Store in 1983 after a 31 year career in shoe sales. Irene was a very dedicated, active member of South Dayton Baptist Church for many years, where she faithfully served as Sunday school teacher, Hospitality Chairperson and Prayer Chain Warrior.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 31 years: Lavoy.
She is survived by a host of nieces and nephews, and will be deeply missed by her family, members of her church and her many lifelong friends.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, October 17, 2014 at Newcomer Funeral Home – South Chapel, 3940 Kettering Blvd. with Pastor Steve Thornhill officiating. Interment will follow at Miami Valley Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 5:00 – 8:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to South Dayton Baptist Church in memory of Irene.
