Ira Caleb Ward, 86, of Dayton, passed away on January 8, 2017.
He was born on April 6, 1930 to the late James and Hazel (Chandler) Ward in Memphis, TN.
On October 26, 1957, he married Verene L. (Lenehan) in Memphis, TN and they raised their family in Dayton, OH.
Ira served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War and was stationed in Germany.
Ira worked as a librarian for the University of Dayton and was a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus.
Ira is survived by his loving daughter, Annette Combs (Douglas); sons, Steve Ward (Lisa) and James Ward (Cathy); grandchildren, Sierra Ward, Ryan Combs, and Ashley Combs; brother, Eb Ward, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Verene Ward; granddaughter, Brittney Ward, as well as 6 siblings.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Knights of Columbus or a charity of your choice.
A visitation will be held from 9:30 - 10:30 am on Friday, January 13, 2017 at Immaculate Conception Church, 2300 Smithville Rd., Dayton, OH 45420 with a Mass of Christian Burial following at 10:30 am and burial at Miami Valley Memory Gardens, Centerville, OH.
