Ida Smith, age 84, of Dayton, passed away on Thursday, December 29, 2022. She was born December 10, 1938 in Teges, Kentucky to Albert and Sarah (Hacker) Byrd. Ida retired from Dimcogray Corp. after 40 years of service.

In addition to her parents, Ida was preceded in death by 4 brothers Albert Byrd, Jr., Brice Byrd, Marion Byrd and Clarence Byrd, 3 sisters Lorene Madison, Ollie Oldham and Rhoda Martin, as well as her sweetheart of 30 years Harold Lacey.

Ida is survived by her brothers Millard (Darlene) Byrd and Hobart Byrd; numerous devoted nieces and nephews, along with her good friends Jesse O'Leary and Diane Roberts.

She loved to be with her family and enjoyed showing her love for them with her delicious home cooking, and will always be remembered for her specialty, chicken and dumplings. Ida also loved being around children and caring for them. She was an avid garage "saler" and has collected many treasures over the years.

Ida holds a dear place in her family's hearts and will be deeply missed.

Visitation will be held on Monday, January 9, 2023 from 11:00 am until time of service at 12:00 pm at Newcomer Kettering Chapel, 3940 Kettering Blvd.

Burial will follow at Woodland Cemetery.
