Ida Mae Copenhaver, age 81 of Dayton, passed away on May 14, 2019. She was born in Cumberland, KY to the late Daisy Phipps and John Evans on January 22, 1938. Ida Mae graduated from Hamilton High School. She went on to become a logistics manager in the hospitality field.
Ida Mae enjoyed Bingo and ran a Lupus Support Group in the area for many years. She loved to sing and dance. Ida attended and was a member of The Seventh Day Adventist Church of Beavercreek. She was very creative and enjoyed painting. Above all, Ida took great joy and pride in her family, especially her grandchildren.
Ida was a loving, caring, and kind mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
In addition to her parents, Ida was preceded in death by her husband, Franklin Copenhaver and grandson, Ben Simpson.
Ida Mae leaves to cherish her memory, loving children, Debra (Ray) Witte, Robert (Kate) Simpson, Steven (Mary Ann) Simpson, Michael (Sandy) Simpson, and Cathee (Mike) Heinrich; sisters, Billie Goodrick, Phyllis (Don) Campbell, and Wilma (Jim) Keifer; grandchildren, Olivia, Maggie, Steven, Sonya, Michael, Matthew, Dustin, Ryan, Brittany, and Brooke; 12 great-grandchildren and 2 more on the way; and many other loving nieces, nephews, relatives, and dear friends.
A celebration of Ida Mae's life will be held on Friday, May 17, 2019 at 10:30am. Visitation for one hour prior (9:30am - 10:30am). Burial to follow at Dayton Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the funeral home to assist with final arrangements.
