Ian Joseph Childress, age 21, of Dayton, passed away March 18, 2024.
Born March 13, 2003, he graduated Wayne High School in 2021, and worked for Beau Townsend Ford in Vandalia.
Ian lived life to the fullest. He loved his family and friends fiercely. He would be the first person to help anyone in need, even if it was 3 am, and if he didn't know how, he was going to figure it out. He would call Mom or Dad, if they didn't know, he would call his aunts and uncles, or his inherited family from the bike shop. He would use every resource to help his friends and family in need.
Ian was preceded in death by his grandpa John Childress, Papaw and Mamaw Cuckoo Lonnie Long and Margie Long. He is survived by his parents, Brandon and Tammy Childress; brothers, Ethan DePriest and Lonnie Childress; grandparents Sherry Childress and Debi DePriest (Don Clark); aunt/uncles Shannon (Kevin) Seals, Jeremy Childress, Mike (Robyn) Childress, and John Jr. (Missy) Childress, Cheryl Byers; girlfriend, Allison Rettig and her son Oliver; many, many cousins; and among many many amazing friends, 3 life-long friends, Devon Hitchcock, Broderick Gabbard, and Jake Helton.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 27, 2024 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm with services to follow at Newcomer Funeral Home - North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Rd. Dayton, OH 45424.
Ian's service will be livestreamed at the scheduled service time.
