Hughie W. Johnson Jr.

It is with great sadness and a heavy heart to announce that Hughie “Wayman” Johnson Jr., age 82 of Dayton, passed away Wednesday, September 18, 2024. He was born in Morgantown, West Virginia to the late Hughie Sr. and Mary Toller Starr. 

He is preceded in death by his mother, Mary Toller Star, his brothers Walter Starr, Marvin Lee Johnson, Arthur Beck & Carl Lucas. His sister Mary Ann Johnson and Stepdaughter Jennifer Dunn. 

Wayman is lovingly remembered by his wife, Cynthia Johnson; 5 children, Kevin Johnson, Krystal Jones, Kennan Johnson, Muriel Johnson and Samantha Johnson. Stepchildren, Kenya Akbar and Renai Dunn. 15 grandchildren Kyiah, Kennan, Keaira, Anthony, Kevin, Tamia, Ahzjai, D’angelo, Katrese, LaDonna, Brielle, Samantha, Zoe, De’Vawn and Desirae. 8 great-grandchildren; three sisters Ophelia Hyde, Belinda Rivers and Carol Ann Lucas. Hughie is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends. 

Wayman retired from General Motors in 2006 after an over 30 year tenure. Wayman had a great sense of humor and is loved tremendously and will be deeply missed. Wayman loved to travel, run, and spend time with his family and friends.

Viewing will be held from 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm on Friday, September 27, 2024 at Newcomer Funeral Home located at 3940 Kettering Blvd. Kettering, Ohio 45439.
