Huey L. Burchett age 91, of Richmond Hill, Ga., traded in his Stetson Hat for a Crown and went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 5, 2022.
Huey Lee Burchett was born into a large family in Johnson County, Kentucky in 1931, which always remained his home away from home. He left his childhood home at age 16 and moved to Dayton, Ohio and 4 years later while on leave from the Army, he met his beloved partner of 66 years, Ruth E. Burchett. Together they loved and raised a large family that made them both very proud. Huey was the family patriarch and was dearly loved by all that crossed his path.
Huey was a proud veteran, passionate citizen, and was deeply committed to everyone in his family. He was always well dressed and had a large collection of hats and belts that suited every bit of his jovial personality. He loved singing, dancing, fishing, gardening, and building anything he could get his hands on. He and his soulmate lived life to fullest and he always made you know he was proud of you and loved you to death. His life was filled with joy by an amazing collection of family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife Ruth, his daughter, Dana; son, Terry; grandson, Donald; both parents, Garfield and Lucy; 4 brothers, Joe, Paul, Noah, Garfield Jr.; 4 sisters, Pauline Preston, Mary Deitz, Janetta Murphy, Sue Frazier
Huey is survived by his children, Donald L. Burchett and Mary D. Lowdenslager; 4 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; brother, Jerry Burchett; a host of brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Wednesday Aug. 10, 2022 at Newcomer- North Dayton Chapel, 4104 Needmore Road from 12:30pm to 1:30pm with services to follow.
