Howard Vance Golden Sr., age 91, of Dayton, OH passed away Sunday July 22, 2012.
He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Jeanette Golden.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Ruby Price Golden; children, Tina E. (Michael) Golden-Sills and Howard Vance (Eve) Golden Jr.; grandchildren, Angel (Nate) Todd, Steven (Melinda) Griffin II, Amy Clark, and Chelsea Sills; 6 great grandchildren and one on the way; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Howard proudly served our country in the Army Air Corps, gaining rank to Staff Sergeant serving from 1942 to 1945. During his service, he achieved many awards of which he was very proud; the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Bronze Star with Oak Leaf Cluster, the Presidential Unit Citation, and many more. He then served in the Air Force Reserves for 3 years. He was also a lifetime member of the VFW Post #2800 in Dayton and the American Legion in Fairborn Post #0526, and a faithful member of the Airway Baptist Church.
Visitation is Friday July 27, 2012 from 1pm to 2pm with funeral service starting at 2pm at the Newcomer Funeral Home (South Chapel), Kettering, OH.
Pastor Jeff Davenport is officiating.
Interment is in Dayton National Cemetery.
