Howard S. Updyke, Sr.

Howard S. Updyke, Sr., 89, passed away Wednesday, November 30, 2016.
He was born February 11, 1927, in Dayton, Ohio, to the late George and Mildred Updyke.
Howard graduated from Roosevelt and served in the Navy during WWII. He married Ada Mae White September 1, 1951, and worked at McCall's/Dayton Press for 30+ years.
Howard has five children and will always be remembered for being a loving, supportive husband, father and friend. He loved dogs and all wildlife, camping, the senior center, table tennis and billiards. But, his family came first, "There's nothing like family," he'd always say.
Howard was preceded in death by his loving wife, Ada; his parents; 3 sisters: Marian (Myers), Marjorie (Wolf), and Connie (Chaney); and great grandson, Owen James.
Howard is survived by his five children: Howard (Karen), Keith (Gail), Robert (Louise), David (Glenda), and Mary (Dennis Smith), 9 grandchildren, and 17 great grandchildren.
Visitation and service will be held at Newcomer on Kettering Blvd, Sunday, December 4, 2-4 p.m., Visitation; 4 p.m., Celebration of Life.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to SICSA Pet Adoption Center or Washington Township Rec West Enrichment Center.
