Howard "Gene" Orr, age 92 of West Carrollton, passed away on July 7, 2016 at the Dayton VA Medical Center.
He was born on May 2, 1924 in Wilmington, Ohio, to the late Harry and Jessie (Kirk) Orr.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Maynard and Robert Orr.
Gene is survived by his loving wife of 73 years, Lorraine; daughter, Sue (Dale) Reigelsperger; son, Ronald Gene (Patricia) Orr; three grandsons, Curt (Sharon) Reigelsperger, Michael Orr, Rick (Shelley) Orr; granddaughter, Melissa (David) Dalrymple; two great-granddaughters, Alexa (Sid) van Druenen, Kylie Greishop; two great-grandsons, Jacob Reigelsperger, Jordan (Kristie) Orr; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Gene was a graduate of Stivers High School Class of 1942. Gene was a veteran of the United States Navy and served during WWII. He was also a master plumber and former employee of Pickrel Brothers.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 13, 2016 from 12 pm to 1 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home- South Chapel, 3940 Kettering Blvd., Kettering, OH 45439. Funeral service will begin at 1 pm, with Bobette Predmore officiating. Burial will be in Dayton National Cemetery with military honors. In lieu of flowers, the family asks you to consider donations to the Dayton VA Hospice or the charity of your choice.
