Howard J. Doherty, 84, of Vandalia, passed away on Monday, October 6, 2014 in his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on August 23, 1930, in Dayton to the late John and Flossie Doherty. Howard was a member of the Knights of Columbus and served as a Vandalia Butler School Crossing Guard at the old Morton Middle School on National Road.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his son, Howie Doherty; brother John Doherty. Howard is survived by his Wife of 46 years, Judith A.(Gebhart) Doherty; children, Michael T. Doherty, Cathy J. Doherty, Marcia L. Doherty, Michael A. Doherty, Elaine P. Routh; grandchildren, Shelley Hartsock and James Hartsock; brother, Eugene (Doris) Doherty; sister, Mae (Joe) Redrick; several nieces, nephews and many good friends.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton.
