Hobert Lawson

Hobert Lawson, age 82 of Huber Heights, formerly of Fairborn, passed away March 24, 2011. He was born February 24, 1929 in Wallins, KY to the late Britt and Hazel Lawson. In addition to his parents, Hobert was preceded in death by his wife, Agnes Lawson; granddaughter, Mary Beth Updike; and several siblings.

Hobert is survived by daughters: Sandra Howard and Susan (John) Jones; grandchildren: Priscilla Alnabulsi, Reva Howard and Summer Gentry; great grandchildren: Aya, Robert, Huda, Stephanie, Megan, Zayde, Javaughn and Savannah; great great grandchildren: Aylin, Lucero "Lu Lu" and Netta; several siblings; and many other extended family members and friends.

Hobert was employed by Dayton Press and drove a school bus for Fairborn City Schools until the early 80's, where he competed and won many bus rodeo's. When he retired from Dayton Press he became a full time employee of Fairborn Schools maintenance department. He retired from the school system in 1990. Hobert was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, Masonic Lodge of Fairborn and was on the committee to organize and build the Fairborn Moose Lodge. Hobert was an avid sportsman. He played on several softball leagues and participated in many bowling leagues and tournaments. He enjoyed basketball and was a huge University of Kentucky Wildcats fan.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 5-7 pm on Thursday, March 31, 2011 at Newcomer Funeral Home & Crematory, 4104 Needmore Road.
