Hester W. Marple
Of Dayton, passed away Saturday, February 6, 2010, after a lengthy illness. Hester was born March 19, 1925 to John & Pearl (Short) Walton in Frenchburg, Kentucky.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Alice Nicely and Blanche Mullins; four brothers, Ray, Freeman, Clyde and her twin brother, Chester, who passed away in November, 2009.
Hester is survived by her daughter, Janet Grothaus (Gene) Senter; brother, Holly (Marge) and Howard (Ruby) Walton; one sister-in-law, Betty; half-sisters, Jettice (Pete) Ratliff of Fairborn, Ohio and Vernell Laurence of Santaana, California and a half-brother, Gerald (Mary) Walton and a step-sister, Learleen Ingram; granddaughters, Kris Cox, Kathy McKinney and Amy (Jamie) Coleman; eight great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Jessica, Erik, Tara, Kathrynne, Michael, Elizabeth and Emily; and several nieces & nephews.
She worked at International Envelope and retired from Kimberly Clark Corp. Hester was a long-time member of First General Baptist Church and loved and served the Lord. She was a loving and giving mother, grandmother and friend to all who knew her. She was kind and generous and very hard working. She would always try to send you home with something to eat even if she went without. She leaves behind a legacy of love to all her family and loved ones.
The family will be receiving friends from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 10, at Newcomer Funeral Home & Crematory, 4104 Needmore Road, Dayton. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday at the funeral home with Brother Mark Snyder officiating. Interment will follow at Woodland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions should be made in memory of Hester to the First General Baptist Church, 1002 Woodley Road, Dayton, Ohio 45403.
