Hester Johnson

Hester "Rella" Johnson, age 89, of Kettering, passed away April 7, 2023. She was born April 6, 1934 in Ezel, KY to the late Kelly and Nellie DeBusk. In addition to her parents, Rella was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley Johnson; brothers and sisters: Russell, Elza, Palmer, Charles, Peggy, Geraldine, Renee, Leona and Joseph; and great-great-granddaughter, Willow.

Rella is survived by her daughters: Phyllis Stevens and Charlotte Thompson (Scott); grandchildren: Shawn Borchert (Tracy), Penny Stevens and Charlie Shepherd; great-grandchildren: Arianna (Josh), Hannah (Doug), Makenzie and Chase; great-great-grandsons: Lincoln and Deacon; sisters: Berline Davis and Ann Brown; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Rella was a member of Faith Baptist Church. She loved animals, shopping and working outside in the yard. Rella was a caregiver to many family members and had a heart of gold.

Visitation will be held from 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 pm on Friday, April 14, 2023 at Newcomer Funeral Home, North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Road, where the funeral service will begin at 12:30 pm. Burial to follow at Dayton Memorial Park Cemetery. Contributions may be made in Rella's memory to Hospice of Dayton.
