Herbert R. Walker
Age 87, of Dayton, passed away Tuesday, March 13, 2012 after a seven year history of health problems.
Herb is survived by his wife, Evelyn Walker. Herb and Evelyn were married 67 years. He is also survived by his daughter, Brenda Walker Browne and son-in-law, Craig Browne. Grandchildren, Beth Ann Browne and Christopher Browne of Chicago. And his sister, Ethel Charles.
Preceded in death by his infant son, Randall Walker, parents, Jeff and Maude Walker, sisters, Ida Morris, and Pauline Hendricks of Four Mile, KY.
Herb retired from RTA (Regional Transit Authority). He would share with others that he drove a bus for "36 years, four months, and ten days." He was very proud of his safe driving awards. He was instrumental in establishing the retiree breakfast get together. Prior to working for City Transit and RTA, Herb worked for the Kentucky Utility. Herb attended church services at his nursing home provided by Far Hills Community Church.
Family will receive friends Sunday from 2:00 - 5:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held Monday at 10:30 a.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home & Crematory, 3940 Kettering Blvd., Kettering. Interment will be at Woodland Cemetery.
Charitable contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or Catholic Charities Home Health.
