Herbert A. Lengefeld, Jr

July 8, 1945 — December 30, 2018

Herbert A. Lengefeld "Herb", beloved husband, dad and poppaw, 73, of West Carrollton, passed away peacefully, at home on December 30, 2018 with his wife, Mary by his side, holding his hand. He had been diagnosed with congestive heart failure which led to renal failure, and put up a good fight until the end. Herb had a wonderful life, happy and content.

He was born at Good Sam Hospital in Dayton, Ohio on July 8, 1945, and began his journey. He graduated from Lynchburg High School in 1963 where he played basketball and was the Student Body President. He served in the military, Army, from 1965-1967, serving in Korea as a telephone lineman. Herb worked at General Motors, Frigidaire Division which later became Harrison and Delphi, and retired in 1997 after 32.5 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents' Herbert and Mary (Barr) Lengefeld, Sr., and sister, Pat Titcombe.

Herb is survived by his wife of 47 years, Mary (Gall); his daughters, Mary Beth (Tom) Caudill, Jennifer (Greg) Mills; his 4 grandchildren, Madison and Mason Mills, Tanner and Ty Caudill; his 2 brothers, Michael (Ramona) Lengefeld, Donald (Patti) Lengefeld; his sister, Connie Staub, and several nieces and nephews.

He was an avid movie collector, logging over 4500 movies by name, stars, and dates. If you wanted to see a movie, he was right there with the number and location where to find it. He also logged music and had over 1000 cassettes and CDs. Mary would make the videos of different events and Herb would help with the music and set-up.

He was a loving father, playing soccer, basketball and tennis with Mary Beth and J., coaching basketball in the recreation program, and going to various events with his family. Herb was devoted to making the best life possible for his family. He completely remodeled the house with plumbing, electricity, and new room additions and updates. Herb didn't like to travel much, but when Mary planned a vacation he went along. He loved being home. He had strong values, work ethic, and always did his best.
