Herbert L. Joyner, Sr.

Ret. Msgt Herbert L. Joyner, age 72, went to be with his heavenly father, March 17, 2008. Mr. Joyner was born on February 27, 1936 in Emporia, VA to Lula Walker Joyner and Issiah Joyner. He gave 37 years of honorable service to the United States Air Force and Civil Service. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was a hero to his children and grandchildren and a rock to his wife of 53 years. He will be dearly missed by everyone who loved him. He is preceded in death by his parents, Lula and Issiah Joyner, 3 sisters, Anna Howard, Almeda Webb, and Florence Hall. He leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Mamie; son, Herbert Leon Joyner, Jr. (Yvonne); 3 daughters, Teresa Mitchell (Carl), Leslie Joyner, and Jennifer Joyner; grandchildren, Makalyn, Janelle, Eric, Jason, Shaun, Tyrees & JoVon; great grandchildren, Alisha, Lela, Taye and Tristian; special niece, Maria Joyner and Dear friend, Kendall Combs. Special thanks to WPAFB Dialysis Clinic and special family friends, Ursula Parchment, Angie Bucio, JoAnn Harris and the Mitchell Family. Funeral services will be held at 1 PM on Tuesday, March 25, 2008 at Newcomer Funeral Home & Crematory, 4104 Needmore Rd., Dayton, OH. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 12 PM until the time of services. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Dayton National Cemetery.
