Herbert L. Jones, age 76 of Huber Heights, passed away April 29, 2012. He was born March 2, 1936 in Winfall, North Carolina to the late Moses and Winnie Jones. In addition to his parents, Herb was preceded in death by 2 brothers and 3 sisters.
Herb is survived by his wife of 53 years, Curtis Mae Jones; children: Monique Austin, Valerie Jenkins, Derek L. (Salina) Jones and Daryl L. (Joanne) Jones; 11 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; 3 sisters; 1 brother; many nieces and nephews.
Herb was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, having served 28 years. He was a Korean War veteran, and retired after 20 years from Logistics at Wright Patterson AFB. He was a member of the United House of God Church and was an avid baseball card collector.
Visitation will be held from 5-7 pm on Monday, May 7, 2012 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4104 Needmore Road, where the funeral service will begin at 10:00 am on Tuesday, May 8, 2012. Bishop Harry Callaway officiating. Burial to follow at Dayton Memorial Park Cemetery. Contributions may be made in Herb's name to Feed the Children, P.O. Box 36, Oklahoma City, OK 73101.
