Herbert E. Matheny

Herbert E. Matheny, age 69, of Moraine, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, January 26, 2015.
Herbert retired from the GM truck & bus Plant after 35 years of service. He was a lifetime member of the Dayton Auto Race Fan Club (D.A.R.F.). Herbert was also a member of the Moraine Eagles and the Miamisburg Moose.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill & Edna Matheny; sister, Loretta Brewer; son, Rodney Matheny; and very special cousin, Darrell Jackson.
Herbert is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Jean Matheny; daughter, Barb Sprinkle; son, Bill (Nickey) Hagerman; grandchildren, Courtney (Norm), Kristin, Travis, Leighton and Sierra; special animals, Buffy, Abbie and Gage; siblings, Chuck (Jeannie) Matheny, Sue (Bill) McGuffie, Larry (Kathy) Matheny, Wayne (Debbie) Matheny and Hershell (Jean) Kidder; numerous aunts; uncles; nieces; nephews and cousins.
The family will receive friends on Monday, February 2, 2015 from 5-8 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home South Chapel (3940 Kettering, Blvd Kettering, OH 45439). The service will be on Tuesday, February 3, 2015 at 11 am at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.
